thegingerwiththedragontattoo asked: Hi Bunny! I've been learning about Islam for about 6 months and have recently made the decision to convert and to wear a hijab. The problem is that I have an -extremely- close-minded dad who is very much against Islam. Do you have any advice for how I can talk to him about this and maybe open his mind to understanding my decision?

Alhamdulillah<3 Congratulations! This makes me so very very happy! :D

It took me about 6 months of vigorous research as well to really wake up and see the fact that I am a Muslim at heart. Isn’t it a beautiful thing? :)

I started wearing hijab on January 1st of this year.
I am very lucky to an overly accepting family. Alhamdulillah!

The way to go about telling your dad is to let him SEE how happy Islam makes you. Let him SEE what a better person you are because of Islam. Sit down with him and tell him you’ll answer any questions he has and help him see the truth behind his misconceptions.

He may not accept it at first. Be prepared for that!
If you’re living at home and are worried he may become violent toward you, DON’T tell him. Convert, but don’t start wearing hijab.

Here is a very good video by two of my favourite Muslimahs on youtube talking about how to tell your parents:

Good luck! Mashallah<3
